Moving day: Tony Mee will take on the role of corporate communications manager at Nissan Australia from July 24.

NISSAN Motor Company Australia has filled the role of corporate communications manager with Tony Mee, previously Mazda Australia’s public relations specialist, coming on board from July 24.

Mr Mee’s departure from Australia’s second-favourite manufacturer comes just two months after his former colleague Karla Leach also moved from Mazda to Nissan, vacating the role of senior manager of public relations at the former for a position as general manager of corporate communications for the latter.

Nissan’s new corporate communications manager brings over a decade of experience in public relations to the job, including over five years at Mazda.

Prior to joining Mazda in June, 2012, Mr Mee worked as communications manager at BAM media and also “spent 10 years working for top tier Supercars teams like Dick Johnson Racing and Stone Brothers Racing,” according to Nissan’s release.

Mr Mee also held event management positions with International Management Group and the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, as well as a role on the sponsorship team at Carlton United Breweries.

In addition to Mr Mee and Ms Leach, Nissan Australia’s public relations team is rounded out by corporate communications coordinator Colette Dunn and Associations of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) general manager of product communications Peter Fadeyev.

Nissan Australia managing director Richard Emery said Mr Mee’s experience was key to his new role.

“With the recent staff changes at Nissan, I was looking for a public relations team with a proven track record,” he said. “Tony will be a great addition to the team.”
