Good terms: Paul Ellis has worked for Porsche Cars Australia since 2005 and is leaving the company on good terms, citing the need to spend more time with his family as a key reason for stepping down.

PORSCHE Cars Australia (PCA) director of public relations and motorsport Paul Ellis has resigned from the German sportscar marque after 12 years of service.

Mr Ellis told GoAuto this week that he is leaving the company on good terms and is looking forward to spending more time with his family. His final day at PCA is September 29.

Asked why he was leaving, Mr Ellis said: “Purely for personal reasons. I don’t leave with any malice or prejudice – I still think I’ve got the best job in the world, I’m just putting my family at the top of my priorities.”

Mr Ellis joined PCA in 2005 as public relations manager and became a director of the company in 2013. The following year he added responsibility for managing Porsche’s motorsport activities in Australia.

Prior to joining PCA, Mr Ellis spent six years in charge of public relations at Saab Australia, while earlier in his career he was a senior motoring journalist with Australian Consolidated Press, working on prominent titles such as Motor magazine (now part of the Bauer Trader Media stable).

PCA is currently searching for a new public relations manager, while the motorsport function will become the responsibility of marketing director Toni Andreevski.

Mr Ellis said he has no specific plans career-wise, although his preference is to remain in the automotive industry. He did, however, rule out a return to motoring journalism.
