FERRARI Sydney has been named 2016 Ferrari Australasia Dealer of the Year, topping the field of six official dealers for the Italian supercar marque in Australia and New Zealand.

The Waterloo-based dealership is part of the McCarroll’s Automotive Group and also represents the Maserati brand (handled by a separate distributor, European Automotive Imports), with dealer principal Phil McCarroll and general manager Angelo Ruberto receiving the coveted Ferrari DOTY award at a presentation ceremony in Sydney this week.

Also in attendance at the event, which coincided with the Prancing Horse brand’s annual dealer meeting, was Ferrari Far East and Middle East chief executive Dieter Knechtel and Ferrari Australasia CEO Herbert Appleroth.

In accepting the award, Mr McCarroll paid tribute to the dealership’s staff, who he said “have worked tirelessly to deliver on the huge growth potential the New South Wales region continues to show”.

“With our Ferrari showroom currently under construction, we are ever more committed to providing the best service and brand experience in the region,” he said.

Ferrari’s DOTY program has been running since the factory took control of local distribution in 2013, and Ferrari Australasia says criteria for selection is based on “highest achievement in 36 areas including customer satisfaction, workshop utilisation, proactive customer engagement through marketing activities and quality of aftersales throughout the year”.

Individual categories are also included in the program, with the Sydney dealership’s Rebecca Melville winning marketing manager of the year.

Ferrari Brisbane’s Franco Giammattei took out the award for top sales manager, while Ferrari Adelaide’s Rob Stevens was named aftersales manager of the year.

Ferrari Australasia said all categories were keenly contested, with little separating all six dealerships. The 2015 DOTY award was won by Barbagallo Ferrari in Perth.

“Ferrari and our network continuously strive to achieve excellence in every aspect of what we do – that includes best product, best people, best service and best premises,” Mr Appleroth said.

“The data collected to select the Dealer of the Year awards from our network has confirmed the excellent quality of our services and the ongoing commitment of our dealers to be the best.”

Ferrari finished 2016 with 188 sales across its retail network, which is an impressive number for a supercar marque that has an exclusive and strictly limited supply of vehicles, all priced above $400,000. Last year’s sales were up 12.6 per cent on 2015.

The current network covers Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland.

As GoAuto has reported, Ferrari is planning to add at least three new service locations over the next couple of years and, potentially, new showrooms, particularly as more pre-owned cars come into the network.
