MOTORSPORT Australia has appointed as general manager of corporate affairs, replacing Paul Riordan who recently left the organisation.
Australia’s governing and sanctioning body for four-wheeled motorsport said Ms Armstrong brings an extensive background in media, broadcasting, and communications.
She is a director of Women in Automotive, an ambassador for FIA Girls on Track and spent 11 years on the Carsales.com.au editorial team.
Ms Armstrong said she was thrilled to take on this role, aligning with her skills and experience in the industry.
“The chance to lead corporate affairs for Motorsport Australia is a privilege and something I was quick to say ‘yes’ to,” she said.
“Aligning my passion for the sport with my skills and experience in communication is a wonderful opportunity.
“This is an exciting time to be joining Motorsport Australia given the ambitious plan ahead and I can’t wait to get underway.”.
Motorsport Australia said Ms Armstrong will be crucial in guiding the organisation, ensuring the organisation’s values, mission and vision continue to resonate with all stakeholders, and that her experience and leadership will enhance its ability to drive forward with clarity and purpose.
Congratulating Ms Armstrong on her appointment, Motorsport Australia CEO Sunil Vohra said her “track record of achievement in communications and established profile in the sport made her the standout candidate for this role”.
“We’ve reshaped corporate affairs to better align with our strategic objectives and speak to a wide network of stakeholders across the sport.
“From the senior echelons of government, through all levels of the sport, our officials and volunteers, and the thousands of existing and new participants – this is a strategic leadership role, and I am thrilled to have someone of Nadine’s calibre to join us.”
The appointment of Ms Armstrong follows several key hires as Motorsport Australia increases its bench strength as the sport’s recognised governing body.
Mark Lawrence has recently been appointed chief financial officer, bringing an extensive background as an ASX CFO. New general counsel Gabriella Bornstein joins after five years in London where she was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis International LLP.
This follows the recently announced appointment of new development manager, Charlie Barlow, well known for her work as PR and communications executive at Supercars; and state and club competition manager Bruce Astbury who joins to lead efforts across state and club level activity.
