Mercedes-Benz Botany, owned by the Armstrong Motor Group (AMG), held its grand opening on June 29 with 250 invited guests including AMG managing director and owner Rick Armstrong, and Mercedes-Benz director of dealer development Australia and Pacific Andrew Cutter.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by Mercedes-Benz New Zealand general manager Ben Giffin.
Mr Armstrong said: “The Mercedes-Benz brand is an aspirational brand, people just want to own one of their vehicles.
“With the current generation of products, the demand is even higher, this is because they are always a market leader in technology, safety and design.
“It’s very rare to find an excellent site and location to purpose build a dealership from the ground up and to have the opportunity to install the latest technology.”
The new dealership is a 5100 square metre facility on Ti Rakau Drive in Botany. Mercedes-Benz Botany dealer principal Jeremy Spicer said the facility has a 20-car showroom and a 12-bay workshop.
“In our first month of trading we sold 60 vehicles (split between new and used) but see our opportunity as 1000 vehicles a year,” he told GoAutoNews Premium.
AMG has two other Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Christchurch and Dunedin. The Christchurch showroom is a multiple winner of the Mercedes-Benz dealer of the year award.
