ASTON MARTIN has announced a new collaboration with video game developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision, unveiling a new virtual military vehicle set to feature in the latest instalment of the Call of Duty first-person shooter video game series, Modern Warfare 4.
Dubbed the Dreadnought, it is named after the British warship HMS Dreadnought from the early 20th century. Conceived by Aston Martin’s design team, the fictional vehicle is bound only by the “physics of the Modern Warfare universe.”
It comes equipped with a V12 engine, all-wheel drive, integrated digital command interfaces, advanced armour technology, adaptive combat-zone intelligence systems, reserve fuel tanks, and bespoke weapons storage, while offering “supercar levels of performance”.
The Dreadnought’s suite of tactical features is also joined by some visual flair, with additional touches such as an Oxford Tan leather dashboard and door panel details, a metallic gold gear lever, a Chiltern Green paint scheme, and a herringbone carbon-fibre weave exterior.
The Dreadnought will never see a battlefield outside of the virtual world, but a full-size model will feature at the Call of Duty stand at the upcoming Fanatics Fest in New York.
Aston Martin chief creative officer Marek Reichman said the design team enjoyed working outside the real world’s constraints.

“The team has hugely enjoyed the not inconsiderable challenge of redefining what an Aston Martin can be when the only limit is imagination,” he said.
“To create the ultimate exotic off-road machine, I had to imagine Dreadnought not only as a digital asset, but as a vehicle living in the real world – navigating the streets of New York, powering through the monsoon-soaked roads of Mumbai, and performing with complete authenticity in every environment.
“That vision allowed us to create something that feels genuinely real, even within the immersive world of the game.”
Infinity Ward co-studio head Jack O’Hara described the collaboration as an “incredible journey”.
“Collaborating with Aston Martin’s design team has been incredible. We’ve brought the vision of Dreadnought to life from the ground up,” he said.
“Every element, from early concepting through to animation, geometry, and in-game physics and propulsion, was carefully engineered to deliver a high-performance armoured vehicle that stays true to Aston Martin’s distinctive design philosophy, while incorporating an armoured exterior, a large fuel tank, and the most aggressive all-wheel-drive system in Modern Warfare 4.”
This is not the first time Aston Martin has created a fictional vehicle for the gaming world.
Previously, in 2014, Aston Martin unveiled the DP-100 Vision Gran Turismo, a mid-engined, twin-turbo V12 concept designed for Gran Turismo 6, then the latest instalment in Sony’s long-running racing game franchise.
Mr Reichman was also involved with that project.
Players will have the opportunity to drive the Aston Martin Dreadnought when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 releases on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Battle.net, Xbox on PC, and Steam.
