AUTOPACT Australia has expanded its dealership portfolio to 30 after buying the Victorian assets of CD Motor Group.

The sale of the three Victorian dealerships, on two sites, was made by CD’s managing director and founder, Cameron Doidge.

Autopact, which had 28 dealers and more than 100 showrooms in its portfolio before the CD purchase, is part of Tokyo listed automotive conglomerate Optimus Group that also owns logistics business Autocare, data specialist Blue Flag and freight group Dolphin Shipping Australia.

The CD Motor’s sale included the Ferntree Gully Kia and Hyundai dealerships, and Knox Mitsubishi. It brings to 38 the number of brands under the Autopact banner.

Optimus director John Startari told GoAutoNews Premium that “strategically, those brands align with our portfolio and it’s in line with our expansion in the Australian market.”

He said that it would be “business as usual” at CD with the only major change being the appointment of a new dealer principal, replacing Mr Doidge. Autopact has appointed Nick Hage to run the business.

In addition to businesses in Japan, Optimus owns assets in Australia including Autocare, which it bought from Linx in May 2024.

It also operates under the OzCar name for used-car sales which it partially owns and Car Empire as an OzCar Franchise and retailer of local and imported used cars.
