RV manufacturer Avida is expanding its dealer network with the addition this week of Avida Ballarat, part of Mercedes-Benz Ballarat that is Victoria’s longest established independent Mercedes dealership.
It is the first time the passenger car and commercial vehicle dealer has expanded to the recreational vehicle segment.
Avida’s dealer development and sales and marketing manager, Billy Falconer, told GoAutoNews Premium that the latest dealer appointment was in response to growing sales on the back of a strong advertising campaign, the launch of new products and incentives offered as part of Avida’s 60 anniversary celebrations.
“We will also expand the network with a new appointment coming in Tasmania, the South island of New Zealand and potentially in the south-east of Victoria,” he said.
“The increase in dealers is in line with plans and will bring our total to 15. That’s about where we want it.”
Mr Falconer said after strong sales through COVID – as people didn’t travel overseas and preferred to holiday locally – the market slowed as the travel industry focus moved overseas.
However, he said more recently that the domestic travel sector was undergoing a resurgence with increasing demand for caravans and motor homes.
Avida Ballarat is part of a continued commitment to strengthen our presence across Victoria and enhance service for our customers, Mr Falconer said.
“We are thrilled to have Avida Ballarat join our expanding dealer network,” he said.
“This partnership represents our dedication to delivering the Avida experience to more Australians, and we look forward to the journey ahead with our new team in Ballarat.”
Avida Ballarat dealer principal Justin Mitchell said: “We’re thrilled to join the Avida family in this milestone 60th anniversary year.
“With the launch of Avida Ballarat, we’re proud to bring the very first motorhome dealership to the heart of Ballarat — a major step forward for adventure-lovers across western Victoria.
“We can’t wait to hit the road with you and deliver the service, support, and spirit Avida is known for. Let the journey begin.”
Mr Falconer said the addition of the Ballarat dealership marks an exciting milestone in Avida’s growth “ensuring even greater access to premium Avida products, expert service, and trusted support for our growing community in regional Victoria.”
Avida is the longest-serving motorhome manufacturer in Australia that is still in the hands of the original family. It has grown from a single slide-on camper designed in a garage in 1965 into the present, national identity in the RV industry.
Mr Falconer said Avida’s original vision is still what drives the business today – “To create the vehicle that fulfils our customer’s dream lifestyle.”
“Throughout 2025, Avida will commemorate this milestone with special events, exclusive model releases, limited time offers, and a renewed commitment to the adventurous spirit of RV travel,” he said.
“The company will launch no fewer than five new ranges and 11 new models as part of its 60-year celebrations, including the highly anticipated Explorer LX 4X4 off-grid campervan for the more adventurous traveller.”
