BRIGHTON Motor Group (BMG) has added a second Nissan showroom to its portfolio, opening Mentone Nissan last week alongside its Mentone LDV showroom.

BMG director and dealer principal Cameron Semark said the move was triggered by strong sales success that gave sister franchise Brighton Nissan the current title of Australia’s second-best Nissan sales outlet.

“We love the product,” Mr Semark said of Nissan and which was reflected in the 110 sales that Brighton Nissan recorded in June.

“The PMA is consistent in sales and is multicultural. So for us it has a solid business case.”

BMG took over the Nissan and Infiniti dealership in Brighton in 2016.

Brighton Nissan is in the heart of the major auto sales strip which runs along the Nepean Highway from Elsternwick to Mentone in Melbourne’s inner-south.

The addition of the Mentone outlet was proposed by Mr Semark in response to buyer demand for Nissan and was supported by Nissan Australia.

The building at 1 Nepean Highway in Mentone is divided, with Nissan joining BMG’s LDV franchise. Both brands are serviced by a workshop on-site.

The site was previously an automotive parts outlet, and before that was a Subaru and then a Volkswagen dealership. Renault vehicles have also been sold from the property.

Mr Semark said the opening adds 10 more staff to the business. Pedro Pinto has been promoted to the role of site manager at Mentone. Mr Pinto has been with Brighton Nissan for the past two years.
