Kevin Allery

BRIDGESTONE Australia and New Zealand group general manager of human resources Kevin Allery recently retired from the leading tyre company after 21 years of service.

Simon Williams is now general manager of human resources.

Mr Allery joined the company in 1997 as employee relations manager of the manufacturing division. He later moved to Bridgestone’s national office following the closure of its manufacturing operations in 2010, working in various senior HR roles before rising to group general manager in 2013.

The company said Mr Allery played a key role in its partnership with the Leukaemia Foundation, which spans more than 30 years, and paid tribute to the way in which he helped workers transition to new employment when its factories in Adelaide and Christchurch were closed.

The closures cost about 600 jobs in Australia and 275 in New Zealand.

Bridgestone Aust/NZ managing director Andrew Moffatt said the company was grateful for the contributions Mr Allery had made over two decades.

“The Leukaemia Foundation partnership is a central part of Bridgestone Australia’s CSR initiatives, and Kevin has been one of the driving forces behind this in his time, as well as contributing to the strategic vision of the business,” he said. “We wish him all the best in his retirement.”
