SYDNEY-based Heartland Motors is living up to its name by committing $50 for every car sold to a children’s hospital.

Heartland CEO Kieran Turner said the donation honours 50 years of the start of the dealership group and the $50 for each new and used car sold in November is expected to yield about $50,000 for the Westmead Children’s Hospital.

“Westmead is in our western suburbs heartland area and is aligned with our ethos of a family-centric business,” Mr Turner said.

“We thought the hospital was a great foundation and when we researched it, found that Westmead didn’t have as much funding as Sydney Children’s Hospital.

“We think we can sell 1000 cars this month and to push things along, we have organised a television advertising campaign on Channel 10. It’s a bit expensive but we wanted to get the message out there.”

Heartland’s origins started on November 9, 1966 in Parramatta by Kieran’s grandfather, Bernie Webb, as Fair Deal Motors.

Mr Webb then bought Boyded Holden and diversified into property and hotels.

Heartland was launched in 2001 and divested itself of other interests to concentrate on car retailing.

It has been in the family ever since and is operated today by third-generation Kieran and his two brothers, Anthony and Ben.

Mr Turner said the next generation of family members was too young – the eldest is aged 14 – to predict if there would be an ongoing family involvement in the business.

“That’s up to them to consider after their schooling,” he said.

The dealership group has five sites and 14 brands in the Blacktown and Penrith area.
