AUSTRALIA’S biggest industrial and commercial online auction business has taken on new premises in Brisbane to house its online car auction business.

GraysOnline, which was bought by the Eclipx Group for $179 million this year, has rented a new 40,000 square metre development at Pinkenba, near the planned site for Brisbane’s new passenger cruise ship terminal at Luggage Point.

The purpose-built property, which will cost the company about $1.2 million per year, is under construction and expected to be completed early next year.

Its main purpose will be for the online car auction business that GraysOnline joint managing director Chris Corbin said had a 30 per cent year-on-year growth over the last five years.

The location gives Grays access to shipping and is also close to the Brisbane airport for customer convenience. Grays said about 40 per cent of its Brisbane customers come from interstate.

The complex will have a 2000sq.m office and warehouse area and about 35,000sq.m of hardstand for vehicle storage.
