SIME Darby Motors Australia has appointed Wayne Hoggard as managing director, replacing Matthew Wiesner who has left the company to become CEO of listed motorbike retailer and distributor MotorCycle Holdings.

Mr Hoggard brings more than 30 years of automotive industry experience and deep expertise within Sime Darby, having served since 2005 in pivotal roles, including Australian CFO and, most recently, as an executive in acquisition strategy at the Sime Darby head office.

Prior to joining Sime Darby in 2005, he spent seven years with Subaru Australia, most recently as financial controller.

Sime Darby said that Mr Hoggard’s tenure has been marked by a proven commitment to operational excellence and growth.

The company said that after starting as financial controller in Peugeot distribution, he later contributed significantly to the expansion into retail, including the acquisitions of Porsche Parramatta and various Brisbane and Sydney businesses.

“His leadership comes at a transformative time, as the industry embraces EVs, AI advancements, and evolving consumer expectations,” Sime Darby said.

Mr Hoggard said: “Having been part of Sime Darby’s growth journey, I look forward to working alongside our talented team to drive continued success and navigate the opportunities in this dynamic market.”

Sime Darby said in welcoming Mr Hoggard to his new role that the company continues its commitment to innovation and excellence.
