HYUNDAI Motor Company Australia has made a commitment to zero emission motoring with the appointment this week of a specialist in sustainability and future mobility.

It has appointed Scott Nargar in the new role of manager corporate communications, government affairs and environment to manage Hyundai’s sustainability strategy in Australia and work with government to ensure the company is at the forefront of change.

HMCA general manager of external affairs, Bill Thomas, said Mr Nargar was instrumental in bringing Hyundai’s ix35 Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle to Australia nearly three years ago.

“The vehicle was the first hydrogen car to be permanently imported into the country,” Mr Thomas said.

“He then oversaw the commissioning and construction of Australia’s first – and to date, only – permanent hydrogen refueller for light vehicles at Hyundai’s Macquarie Park headquarters.

“He was instrumental in the sale of 20 next-generation Hyundai hydrogen vehicles to the ACT Government, as part of the Hornsdale Windfarm Project, due to be delivered in 2018. It was the first order for that vehicle anywhere in the world.”

Mr Nargar is now Chairman of Australia’s H2 Mobility Working Group and will showcase zero-emissions technology to Australia’s media, governments, fleet companies, academia and the public.
