ONCE one of Perth’s most recognisable Holden dealerships, Melville Motors has started a multi-million development to substantially extend its floorspace and introduce the latest corporate identity through its major franchise, Kia.
Melville Motors – with major brand Kia and positioned to share the showroom floor with Suzuki and GWM – sits on a 12,000 square metre (almost 3 acres) site 18km from the Perth CBD.
The redevelopment, which will be one of the biggest dealerships in Perth and which is expected to be open in the fourth quarter of this year, was triggered by the need to replace an aging building that dates back to when it opened as a Holden dealership in 1962.
Melville Kia dealer principal Daniel Nock said the age of the building and some structural deficiencies, plus the need to introduce the latest CI and to make big upgrades to suit customer convenience and comfort, led dealership owner Bob Allen Group to rebuild.
The three level building will have a lower service centre with 28 bays to replace the current 17 bay workshop; a mezzanine floor for administration; and the showroom which will display vehicles from Kia, Suzuki and GWM.
Melville Motors will continue its relationship with the Holden name by providing service and spare parts for the brand.
Features of the new building include an elevator from the showroom to service centre, underground parking, and a large coffee lounge with retail ‘hole in the wall’ for coffee sales to the general public.
