It is the second time the car-maker has backed NBL after signing a three-year sponsorship deal with MG Motor Australia in September last year.
This made MG the NBL’s official car partner and presenting partner of the NBL Grand Final Series, and also sees it award the NBL Finals MVP winner an MG ZS.
South East Melbourne Phoenix is now supported by MG Motor and the dealers Dandenong MG, Ringwood MG, Cranbourne MG, Northern MG and Werribee MG.
The sponsorship gives them back-of-jersey branding, signage and a state-of-the-art in-game activation.

Phoenix general manager Tommy Greer said MG Motor had firmly established a relationship with the NBL and the club now looked forward to working with MG to “help them achieve their goals as we strive to achieve ours in NBL20”.
MG Motor Australia chief executive Peter Ciao said: “At MG Motor Australia, we’re familiar with entering an established market and pushing the boundaries of competition as a new and exciting challenger.”
On a global level, MG has also expanded its partnership with English soccer club Liverpool. It first became a sponsor in 2016 to become the Premier League club’s official automotive partner in China and last month renewed the deal in a bid to grow its overseas market presence.
The financial terms and length of the deal were not disclosed but the value of Liverpool FC is now believed to be more than $A1.8 billion. The club also signed a sponsorship agreement with global betting agency 1xBet.
MG will continue to have LED branding present at Liverpool’s Anfield stadium, first team player access, signed merchandise and exposure on the club’s digital platforms.
Since the two first partnered, MG has created limited-edition Liverpool-branded cars, launched a TV commercial and seen club legends attend international motor shows.
