MITSUBISHI Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) has appointed Philip Skinner as its new corporate communication and government relations manager.

Mr Skinner joins MMAL from the transport fuels and energy sector with Ampol Australia and the Australasian Convenience and Petroleum Marketers Association (ACAPMA) across several roles as a government affairs specialist.

Most recently, he led Ampol’s government affairs program for the future energy business as it aimed to develop, and deliver, on its Future Energy and Decarbonisation Strategy.

Mr Skinner has a strong background in government affairs, policy analysis, crisis management and communications.

MMAL said Mr Skinner is a skilled operator and adept at providing best practice advice on developing, maintaining and defending a robust enabling environment within political, regulatory and industry sectors to maintain social licence to operate and support business objectives.

On his appointment, Mr Skinner said: “I’m excited to be joining Mitsubishi Motors and expand on the experience and learnings I’ve gathered from the energy and fuels sector into the automotive and mobility space.”

Mr Skinner joins MMAL’s new product PR manager Adam Davis and the pair will pick up the baton from Catherine Humphreys-Scott, who recently took a senior role with Adelaide-based agency communications and PR agency Callie after almost three years with Mitsubishi.
