Focus point: After nine years leading SAF-Holland Australia, Nick Stavrakis takes the reins at Dana and is charged with growing its business in existing and new markets in the wake of the local car manufacturing sector’s closure last year.

AUTOMOTIVE component supplier Dana Incorporated has appointed Nick Stavrakis as managing director and country lead for all operations in Australia and New Zealand, as well as the company’s service and assembly centre in South Africa.

Replacing Peter Langworthy, who retired at the end of last year after seven years in the position, Mr Stavrakis comes to Dana from SAF-Holland Australia, where he served as managing director for almost a decade.

He has a further 20 years’ experience in the commercial road transport industry spanning engineering, sales and senior management, working specifically across trailer, tanker and associated equipment fields.

At Dana, which is a specialist in drivetrain, sealing and thermal products, Mr Stavrakis will lead and execute the Australian-based regional division’s enterprise strategy “to grow the business in this important market where Dana Australia has strong capability to support light vehicle, commercial vehicle and off-highway (sectors) as well as niche applications”.

The latter includes industrial and stationary equipment applications.

In announcing the appointment, Dana’s China and Oceania senior vice-president Antonio Valencia described Mr Stavrakis as “an industry veteran with a strong knowledge of Australia and New Zealand”.

“His wealth of industry and regional experience will be especially valuable to Dana and our customers as we continue to execute our enterprise strategy and grow the business in these important markets,” he said.
