Jessica de Vries

GUMTREE Cars has announced the appointment of Jessica de Vries as national sales manager.

Ms de Vries brings more than 20 years’ experience in the Australian automotive and digital marketing sector to the role.

She was previously managing director of digital marketing company Search Optics, overseeing the Australian and New Zealand markets over an 18-month period after being promoted to the role from national sales director, a position she had held for 10 months.

Ms de Vries is a former head of dealer sales at Carsguide, where from 2014 to 2016 she was responsible for dealer sales, marketing and communications strategies.

Prior to that, she spent 18 months as national dealer sales manager at Carsguide, having been promoted to the role after helping establish the New South Wales sales division as online sales manager from 2011-12.

In a statement, Gumtree Cars said Ms de Vries will be responsible for “continuing to grow Gumtree Cars’ presence in the highly competitive autos market and to partner closely with national and local dealerships”.

Gumtree Australia managing director Martin Herbst said Ms de Vries’ role was “critical to the continued success of Gumtree Cars”.

“Last year, as part of the hugely successful rebrand, we launched the dedicated Gumtree Cars branding and a more customised car shopping experience to help our users search and browse through the hundreds of thousands of cars listed on our site each year and to ultimately find the vehicle that best suits them,” Mr Herbst said.

“With Jessica now leading Gumtree Cars’ dealer growth, the entire team is excited to continue our mission to give Australians exactly what they want. We’ll continue to build awareness around the breadth and quality of cars and vehicles available on our site, and build even stronger partnerships with dealers across Australia.”

Ms de Vries said she was excited to be joining the company “during a period of massive growth and also learning from eBay Classifieds Group’s wider portfolio of leading players in the automotive industry”.

“With more than 150,000 Aussies visiting Gumtree Cars each day, the challenge now is to continue the momentum while constantly innovating to meet customer needs,” she said.
