THE biggest Mercedes-Benz dealership in the southern hemisphere is set to open in July, setting a precedent for future dealerships with its blend of retail and lifestyle features.

Built at a cost of about $100 million and designed on the German prestige brand’s autohaus architectural style, the LSH Auto site in Brisbane’s riverside Breakfast Creek precinct aims to reflect how car dealers of the future will integrate into communities and bring with them an emphasis on lifestyle.

LSH, based in Hong Kong, is the world’s biggest Mercedes-Benz retailer.

The company sees Breakfast Creek as a statement about its confidence in the future of Australia and, in particular, Brisbane.

LSH Auto Australia managing director John Good said the company operated on a long-term investment strategy.

“Obviously, this facility shows that we believe that the Brisbane premium automotive and luxury lifestyle market offers opportunity,” he said.

“It’s also a clear embodiment of our brand promise of: ‘You matter. Always.’

“It’s what drives us to provide the very best customer experience possible and this new luxury lifestyle precinct will raise that standard even further.”

The five-storey building, which has a distinctive 6m-high illuminated three-pointed star emblem, will have multiple showrooms, a 539-square-metre museum – an Australian first for Mercedes-Benz – as well as an AMG Performance Centre, an ‘S-Class Lounge’ (with concierge service), staff training centre, shops and cafes, rooftop restaurant (with 180-degree views of Brisbane and its surroundings), dining and function area, and garden pavilion.

Workshop facilities include more than 40 service bays and vehicle service technology will include new ‘MAHA’ vehicle test lanes that measure steering, brake and suspension performance, as well as wheel alignment and tyre tread depth.

The precinct will also have a range of luxury lifestyle brand retail, personal care and wellness facilities and a business centre.

The building is set on a large property bought by LSH’s property arm for $26 million in early 2016.

Design for the dealership came from architects Cottee Parker. Its director, Kim Vojacek, told GoAutoNews Premium in 2016 that the design was “contemporary” with “modernist architectural design elements” and followed the Mercedes-Benz autohaus theme.

“The aim is for this facility to become a catalyst and a benchmark for the future urban renewal of the precinct,” he said.
