This is the first time the Australian subsidiary of the British prestige brands has singled out an overall winner for both Jaguar and Land Rover after last year combining each major award category to reflect the company’s efforts to have them jointly represented across its expanding national network.
These categories continue, with the family-owned Purnell Motors – led by dealer principal Rodney Dale – also taking out the Metropolitan Retailer of the Year award, while Berwick Jaguar Land Rover on Melbourne’s south-eastern fringe east was named Provincial ROTY and Blacklocks Jaguar Land Rover in Lavington, New South Wales, won the Regional ROTY award.
At the presentation ceremony in Sydney last week, Mr Dale was presented with a 2016 Land Rover Defender 110 station wagon – one of the last brought into Australia before production at the Solihull plant ended on January 29, 2016, after more than six decades.
Judging criteria for the JLR Australia awards program covers areas such as sales performance, customer satisfaction, facilities presentation and staff training.
Special longevity awards were also presented to four dealerships: Perth’s Barbagallo Jaguar Land Rover (40 years), Wollongong’s Southern Classic Jaguar Land Rover (25 years), Cannington’s Southern Jaguar Land Rover (20 years) and Geelong’s Rex Gorell Jaguar Land Rover (10 years).
JLR Australia managing director Matthew Wiesner said: “Just as our two brands have been strong achievers, so have our retailers.
“It is a pleasure to be able to recognise them for the dedication and hard work they put into continually delivering on outstanding customer satisfaction in both the retail and service areas.”
