AUSTRALIAN EV charging hardware company JET Charge has forged a partnership with Volkswagen Group Australia, extending its relationship with Audi that began in 2020.

JET Charge will now partner with the Volkswagen passenger vehicles, Audi, Volkswagen commercial vehicles, Skoda and Cupra brands. This follows VGA annexing Audi’s Australian business in January this year.

The new agreement, in which JET Charge provides EV hardware and related services, coincides with World EV Day.

VGA managing director Paul Sansom said: “Australia’s leading importer of European personal mobility and its leading provider of the EV charging infrastructure and technologies have joined forces.

“Already this year VGA has confirmed production of new BEVs across our brands with the strong likelihood of another to come shortly.

“Our company’s quest to become Australia’s foremost provider of zero and low emission vehicles is boosted significantly by its new association with JET Charge.”

JET Charge CEO Tim Washington said: “Having seen the diverse range of vehicles on offer from Volkswagen Group brands in European markets, it will be a thrill to see them soon available for Australian customers, coupled with a world class charging experience”.

JET Charge is Australia’s leading hardware supplier and installer of EV charging infrastructure and has installed more charging stations than any other provider in Australia.

It adds Volkswagen Group to its existing national installation partnerships with Tesla, Volvo, Porsche, Audi, Renault, Jaguar Land Rover and Hyundai.

It also supported Nissan in launching its second-generation Leaf in 2019 by providing charging infrastructure for the EV dealer network.

JET Charge in July this year sold its major stake in national EV business Chargefox. The business, which provides charging equipment, was sold to Australian Motoring Services (AMS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Australian Motoring Clubs that include NRMA, RACQ and RACV.
