MAWSON Lakes Volkswagen has taken a double gong at this year’s Volkswagen Dealer of the Year Awards.

Repeating its 2022 performance, the Adelaide-based dealership retained its National Dealer of the Year and its Metropolitan Dealer of the Year titles.

Barry Maney Volkswagen, another South Australian dealership, was named Rural Dealer of the Year and Wodonga Prestige Volkswagen was Provincial Dealer of the Year winner.The annual Volkswagen Dealer of the Year awards were held at Sydney’s Hyatt Regency Hotel and attended by some 170 guests from the brand’s 106-strong national dealership network.

It was Volkswagen’s second physical DOTY gathering since the COVID-19 pandemic and coincided with the German brand’s 70th year on sale in Australia.

Speaking at the awards, Volkswagen Group Australia brand director of passenger vehicles Michal Szaniecki said 2024 represents a transitional year for the business with six electric vehicles and one plug-in hybrid being launched.

“Most likely, in 2025, there will be targets for CO2 emissions for each organisation, which is why the Volkswagen brands and Volkswagen Group Australia in general will gain a competitive edge in the market,” he said.

“What makes us even stronger and poised for success in the next 70 years is that we seem to be better prepared for the changing profile of demand and legislation in Australia.”

Recognising the efforts of those dealers who contributed most strongly to the success of the brand in 2023, Volkswagen Group Australia brand director of commercial vehicles Ryan Davies praised the Mawson Lakes leadership team for capitalising on their initial success by continuing to excel.

“These awards are hard won,” he said.

“To win both awards in the same year is a rare enough distinction, to win them in your debut year – and retain them in your second – is unprecedented.”
