Moving on: BMW general manager of communications Lenore Fletcher has resigned from the German company to take up another role in the auto industry.

BMW Group Australia general manager of corporate communications Lenore Fletcher will depart the company on December 31 to take up another role in the Australian automotive industry in January.

Although her new job is yet to be officially confirmed, GoAuto understands she is heading to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) – the peak motor industry body based in Canberra – to become the new communications director, replacing Peter Brewer who quit the FCAI to pursue other opportunities in September.

Ms Fletcher, who has been with BMW since 2013, started in public relations at Melbourne-based Nissan Australia in 1990, spending 16 years with the Japanese company and rising to PR manager.

In 2007, she took up a similar role with Mitsubishi Motors Australia in Adelaide where she remained for five years before joining Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) back in Melbourne in 2012.

In February 2013, she was recruited by BMW to fill its vacant communications role – a position she has held for almost six years.

In her new role, Ms Fletcher will put old rivalries aside to work with Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific managing director Horst von Sanden, who is president of the FCAI, along with Mercedes corporate communications director David McCarthy, who is also on the FCAI board.

BMW is already searching for a replacement for Ms Fletcher.
