GAC has announced yet another football team partnership, this time signing a multi-year deal with Melbourne City FC as its official automotive partner commencing from the 2026/27 A-League season starting on October 17.
The announcement comes two months after the Chinese brand – which launched in Australia in November of last year – signed a similar deal with Sydney FC.
As part of the partnership, GAC’s logos will feature on the Melbourne City FC’s player shorts for both the men’s and women’s teams.GAC will also be involved in match day activations at the team’s home ground, AAMI park, along with player appearances, fan engagement experiences and digital collaborations on Melbourne City FC’s platforms.
GAC International Australia CEO Kevin Shu said: “Melbourne City FC has an incredible history in all A-League competitions and like this club, we always give 100 per cent effort to all that we do”.
“We are ambitious for where we want to be over the coming years and in the same way this team approaches the game, we seek exciting yet sustainable ways to strengthen our position in the market and to engage with the club’s supporters.

The Guangzhou-based marque isn’t the only Chinese brand to recently sign a sponsorship deal with an A-League football team. In June, Melbourne Victory announced BYD as its exclusive motor vehicle supplier. In the same month, Jaecoo announced a partnership with the Western Sydney Wanderers, supporting the team during its Wanderers Fives World Cup events and during the Sydney Super Cup.
