JLR breaks world-record with LEGO bricks

Land Rover has revealed the New Discovery seven-seat SUV by breaking a Guinness World Record for the largest LEGO structure ever built.

Long-term Land Rover Discovery owners Bear Grylls, Sir Ben Ainslie and Zara Phillips took part in the dynamic live reveal of Land Rover’s most versatile model around a 13-metre high LEGO version of London’s Tower Bridge, made from 5,805,846 LEGO bricks, beating the previous record by 470,646 pieces. The bridge was put together on the grounds of Packington Hall, Warwickshire, UK – close to Land Rover’s Solihull plant, where New Discovery will be produced.

Led by the UK’s only LEGO Certified Professional, Duncan Titmarsh, it took five months for expert LEGO Master Builders in the UK to construct the incredible Tower Bridge structure.

Nissan develops autonomous chair for queues

Nissan today unveiled the newly-developed ProPILOT Chair. Following the success of the Intelligent Parking Chair back in February earlier this year, the ProPILOT Chair negotiates queues on behalf of its occupant, taking the hassle out of standing in line. The ProPILOT Chair’s draw is to anyone who has to queue for hours, such as waiting in line for the newest tech or waiting for tickets.

Between now and December 27 the ProPILOT Chair will receive real-world testing around Japan. Restaurants across Japan can apply to use the chairs by tweeting their name and webpage along with the hashtags #NissanProPilotChair #Wanted.

All-new Jeep Compass Makes Worldwide Debut in Brazil

In celebration of the start of production at FCA’s Jeep Assembly Plant in Goiana, Pernambuco, the Jeep brand introduced the all-new Jeep Compass today in Brazil.

The new medium SUV will be produced with 17 powertrain options for consumers in more than 100 countries around the world. The Compass develops the brand’s global reach with features that include off-road capability, advanced fuel-efficient powertrains, premium and authentic Jeep design, on-road driving dynamics, open-air freedom, and a host of safety and advanced technology offerings.

The mid-sized SUV will be available in Australia late 2017.

Jaguar Land Rover announces unique in-car Spotify app for streaming music

JAGUAR LAND ROVER (JLR) plans to transform the way we listen to music in our cars. This week JLR announced a partnership with the world’s most popular streaming music app, Spotify. They have joined forces to offer a unique app that brings streaming radio and personalised playlists based on users’ tastes and in-car listening habits. The app mirrors the Spotify interface users will recognise from their smartphone with touch and swipe gestures to navigate content.

Spotify for Jaguar Land Rover is available on any Jaguar or Land Rover equipped with an InControl Touch, InControl Touch Plus or the latest InControl Touch Pro touchscreen. The app launches in Jaguar Land Rover’s InControl Apps library from the 27th of September.

Citroen and Rip Curl alliance produces special edition Cactus

CITROEN and iconic Australian surf brand Rip Curl will celebrate its newly-formed alliance by launching 15 special-edition Rip Curl Cactus examples in Australia.

The Rip Curl Edition Cactus will feature ‘Rip Curl’ graphics on the front mudguards and C-pillars, Grip Control, Goodyear mud and snow tyres, silver bumper guards front and rear, white rearview mirror shells and white roof rails as standard equipment. It will be powered by PSA’s award-winning PureTech 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and five-speed manual transmission.
