NEW Zealand electric vehicle charger manufacturer Evnex, which recently partnered with Polestar, has released two budget-priced home chargers for consumers feeling the economic pinch.
The new products, the E2 Core and the E2 Plus, will fill a gap in the market, said Evnex CEO Ed Harvey.
Interviewed by GoAutoNews Premium at the recent Everything Electric Expo (EEE) in Sydney, Mr Harvey said: “We understand that in today’s economic climate, affordability is key for many EV owners, and these products provide a cost-effective solution.
“That’s why we developed the E2 Core, to provide a high-quality, reliable smart charging solution at a competitive price.
“We believe there is a gap in the market for a premium locally made product to take on some of the cheaper imported brands and we’re excited to see how it resonates with consumers.”
The Evnex products were displayed at the recent EEE which competes with the Sydney (and Melbourne) International EV AutoShow promoted by events company Future Drive Auto.
Future Drive Auto runs its Sydney expo in November, leaving five months between the two similarly-themed shows in the harbour city.
Mr Harvey says that the E2 Plus builds on the Core model with Tesla integration, a longer cable, local load balancing and colour options.
“The E2 Plus is our premium model, delivering cutting-edge technology and colour options for those who want the very best in smart charging,” he said.
The Evnex product has different plugs, a four-year residential warranty (three for commercial applications) and support from technicians who can tap into an individual charger to obtain information and diagnose any issues remotely.
The brand arrived in Australia in 2023 after a decade of manufacturing “smart” chargers in NZ and says it is “set to shake up the market”, partnering with Polestar and CBA.The two new chargers continue Evnex’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, with sleek, compact designs that fit into any home environment.
“As the world’s slimmest EV chargers, the E2 Core and E2 Plus combine style, intelligence, and efficiency in a way that no other charger on the market can,” Mr Harvey said.
“We’re proud to offer EV drivers a charging experience that’s world-class.”
Details of the E2 Core includes a home overload protection feature and is enabled for consumers to schedule their charging for off-peak times and also for when renewable energy is available. It also offers solar diversion, allowing users to charge with solar energy.
Evnex said the chargers deliver around 50km of range per hour which is claimed to be “at least four times faster than a three-pin plug”.
Safety is optimised as every charger is fitted with a dedicated feed from the switchboard.
Mr Harvey said the E2 Core and E2 Plus are available for order now, with the option of installation services provided by Evnex’s nationwide network.
