EXPERIENCED engineer Lutz Stiegler will move from his role as head of electric propulsion systems at Volvo to chief technology officer of sister brand Polestar, effective December 1.

Mr Stiegler (56) succeeds Joerg Brandscheid, who is departing the company.

He has more than a quarter-century of experience in technology development in the automotive sector, of which a decade was spent with Volvo.

At Volvo Mr Stiegler was responsible for the product development of all software and hardware used in Volvo’s electric powertrains including batteries, charging components and power electronics.

Before his stint at Volvo, Stiegler spent nearly 20 years at the German engineering specialist IAV, where he finished as vice president of powertrain development.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath said in a statement” “Performance and innovation are key ingredients in Polestar’s cars and Lutz will lead the development of these characteristics with his excellent expertise in BEV technology and deep knowledge of e-powertrains.”
