GWM forms part of an expanding manufacturer portfolio for the Star Automotive Australia Group, which also operates Melbourne City MG – which is among largest MG dealerships in the Southern Hemisphere – while a new Melbourne City GAC location is slated for opening in November as previously reported by GoAutoNews Premium.

Dealer principal Kendal Yang says the opening of the new dealership opens up “a new chapter” for GWM in Melbourne.

The new dealership will cater to private, fleet, and commercial vehicle customers and will provide a “seamless” buyer journey according to Melbourne City GWM general manager Andre Tee.

More broadly in Australia, the GWM brand has seen a line-up shuffle with its electric vehicle portfolio, with the recent arrival of the Ora 5 SUV following the discontinuation of the Ora hatchback.

The Ora 5 also joins GWM’s wider range of electrified vehicles, inclusive of hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. 

Mr Tee says Melbourne City GWM is ready to accommodate the brand’s growing number of EV buyers.
