ROB McEniry, former CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Australia Ltd and current chairman of Automotive Holdings Group Ltd, has resigned all his public company directorships after being diagnosed with a serious health issue.

A statement from AHG said that Mr McEniry’s resignations are effective immediately and he intends to spend time with his wife Penelope and family.

He was appointed to the AHG board in May 2012 and became chairman in February this year.

AHG managing director John McConnell thanked Mr McEniry for his services to the company and said it was “very sad that his tenure as chairman has been cut short”.

“Our thoughts are with Robert, Penelope and the family during what is an extremely difficult time.” he said.

Mr McEniry is also chair of EV Engineering, and the advisory board of the Department of Management at Monash University and Bapcor.

He is also a director of Steelbro Group, Multiple Sclerosis Society Ltd, Australian Home Care Services, Stillwell Motor Group, and a member of the editorial board of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals and life member of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.

His previous roles have included chairman and CEO of MMAL and marketing director of both Holden and Saab (in Sweden).
