DANIEL Bostock has been named winner of the 2026 Subaru Australia Technical Competition and will represent Australia at the Subaru World Technical Competition finals in Japan this coming December.
Australia has won the world technical title at each of the past two competitions, so Mr Bostock carries Subaru’s local bid for a hat-trick.
Mr Bostock, from Inchcape Subaru North Shore in New South Wales emerged victorious among four other finalists selected to contest the Australian title. Also vying for Australian honours were Ben Figdor (Inchcape Subaru Glen Waverley in Victoria); Jake Brandley (Llewellyn Subaru in Queensland); James Gallien (Beer Subaru in Victoria); and Jesse Roberts (Cricks Subaru Maroochydore in Queensland).
Finalists were drawn from across Subaru’s national dealer network on the basis of technical expertise and performance, with each first sitting an online qualifying test before the top five advanced to the national stage.
The national event comprised a two-hour series of hands-on diagnostic and technical challenges designed to push competitors beyond routine service work.
Subaru Australia general manager Scott Lawrence said the competition was one of the most important events on the brand’s calendar and never failed to highlight the depth of talent across the dealer network.
“Technicians are the backbone of the Subaru ownership experience – they are the people our customers trust with their vehicles and watching them compete at this level is genuinely awe-inspiring,” he said.
“This competition is about more than finding a winner. It’s a professional development opportunity that pushes every participant to raise their standard and take real pride in their expertise.
“The fact that Australia has won the World Technical Competition for two consecutive years reflects just how seriously we take that commitment to excellence. We are enormously proud of Daniel, and of every technician who competed this year.”
Subaru Australia said the program formed part of its ongoing investment in technician training across the dealer network, particularly as vehicle technology becomes more complex with the continued expansion of electrification.
