THE opening of AHG’s Mazda dealership in Osborne Park in Perth is the fourth Mazda play by the listed entity in less than a year, and brings AHG’s Mazda count to ten locations across Australia and New Zealand.

The company completed its $12 million greenfield development of the Browns Plains Mazda dealership near Brisbane last Friday. This follows the purchase of City Mazda in inner Melbourne in July this year from former Footscray football player Steve Wallis and partners for $24.4 million plus stock and assets.

AHG bought the City Mazda business but not the property. AHG is now considering whether to relocate the dealership, which is alongside AHG-owned Melbourne City Holden and HSV, and Melbourne City Hyundai.

Two years ago AHG also finalised its development of a new site for its Sutherland Mazda dealership, south-west of Sydney, at an estimated cost of $24 million.mazda-perth-dealer_lower

Browns Plains is in line with AHG’s strategy to develop automotive retail hubs of a collection of brands. Similar to the Melbourne site, Browns Plains Mazda is next to AHG’s existing Browns Plains Holden, HSV, Hyundai and Suzuki franchises.

The dealership, which is Brisbane’s first Mazda dealership for AHG, has a 92-metre frontage to the Mount Lindesay Highway and Anzac Avenue.

It covers more than 11,800 square metres and includes an 895-square metre showroom with 160-square metre of mezzanine offices.

Browns Plains Mazda and Sutherland Mazda were fully developed by AHG’s property partners Charter Hall Ltd and both have long-term leases.

AHG holds Mazda franchises in Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Auckland.
