AUSTRALIAN safety product and OEM test facility APV has appointed Lindsay Mitchell to its team as operations and quality manager for its test centre, APV T.

Mr Mitchell brings extensive engineering, safety, crash and mechanical testing experience to the role from more than 20 years in the automotive industry with GM Holden and Vinfast Australia.

His career highlights include the management of all Vinfast vehicle validation test operations, sub-system and component level data acquisition, and rig tests in China and Australia.

With GM Holden he was manager of vehicle safety, covering the development, global approval and execution of the Holden safety strategy to enable all vehicles to achieve five-star ratings under the increasingly stringent ANCAP protocols.

During his career at Holden, Mr Mitchell was the engineering manager responsible for the Lang Lang proving ground and test laboratories, managing the engineering teams and staff across multiple disciplines including validation, durability, noise and vibration, and data acquisition.

He has an extensive vehicle safety background and was on the ANCAP working group that facilitated the alignment of common protocols across Euro NCAP and ANCAP along with the GMH active safety workgroup, planning and executing the direction for active safety globally including the development of the Intelligent Speed Assist system.

He reports to general manager Carl Liersch who said: “I am really pleased to have Lindsay with his depth of skills onto the team with a great mix of management, CAE, test and evaluation expertise.”
