THE best of Victorian and Tasmanian automotive businesses, employers and apprentices were recently named at the 2024 VACC President’s Gala Dinner, a formal evening that combined industry awards and apprentice graduation festivities.

Winner of the VACC Apprentice of the Year is Luke Johnstone of Harrison Motor Group.

The TACC Apprentice of the Year is Jack West of European Technology Bodyworks.

Held at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne with master of ceremonies Shane Jacobson and entertainers, the event honoured outstanding first- second- and third-year apprentices.

Other award categories comprised outstanding trainee, and the VACC and TACC Progressive Excellence Awards.

VACC CEO Geoff Gwilym said: “The Automotive Industry Awards have been very well supported this year, proving they are valued by the industry and recognised by consumers.”

The Outstanding Apprentice awards were won by:

  • Outstanding 1st Year Apprentice: Harrison Yates, Sports and Classic Car Services
  • Outstanding 1st Year Apprentice: Jai Burns, Rex Gorell MG
  • Outstanding 1st Year Apprentice: Riley Balcombe, Cranbourne Mitsubishi and Kia
  • Outstanding 2nd Year Apprentice: Dylan Bunlay, Werribee Kia
  • Outstanding 2nd Year Apprentice: Mitchell Cannon, South Coast Bus
  • Outstanding 3rd Year Apprentice: Brandon McKenzie, Volvo Cars Geelong
  • Outstanding Trainee of the Year: Grace McKay, Ferntree Gully Hyundai and Kia
  • Outstanding Trainee of the Year: Eric Molina, Essendon Mazda
  • VACC Progressive Excellence Award: Isaac Taylor, Palm Trans, and
  • TACC Progressive Excellence Award: Ben Moore, Tilford Group
