AFTER a strong sales performance in 2023, BMW Group Australia has announced that Waverley BMW and Brisbane Mini Garage were each named major metro Dealer of the Year for their respective brands as top achievers among the Bavarian car-maker’s retail network were celebrated for their achievements.

It was a big year for BMW Group Australia in 2023 with BMW reclaiming coveted premium market leadership from Mercedes-Benz after 11 years while sister brand Mini achieved an all-time sales record.

Held at the W Hotel in Sydney, the 2023 BMW Group Australia DOTY awards ceremony placed a broad focus on dealer activities across various business areas including sales, customer excellence, financial services, digital transformation, and sustainability.

Metro DOTY went to Essendon BMW and Cantebury Mini Garage, Rural DOTY were Shepparton BMW and Townsville Mini Garage and Provincial DOTY gongs went home with Mornington BMW and Essendon Mini Garage.

Presenting the awards, BMW Group Australia CEO Wolfgang Buechel remarked that while not all dealers walked away with a trophy, all 48 of them were recognised for their efforts and contributions, which helped BMW finish 2023 as the top-selling premium car brand.

“Throughout 2023, the continued success of BMW and Mini brands in Australia was made possible by our strong partners who bring decades of experience, a deep understanding of our brands and the automotive landscape, and most importantly, are the interface with our valued customers,” said Mr Buechel.

“Satisfied customers are most important to us, and we are collectively working together with a common goal to become even more customer-focused and service-oriented.”

The awards were categorised into four groups based on the number of vehicle sales achieved throughout the year.

Points were awarded to each dealer based on the highest scores in demonstrating excellence across numerous areas including customer service, sales, marketing, financial services, digital transformation, sustainability and RetailNext, the latter, BMW says, providing a completely new experience for customers visiting dealer showrooms.
