BMW Group Australia’s Bodyshop programme has upskilled a number of its technicians as part of a comprehensive training course in structural repair.

Delivered in conjunction with Chisholm Institute, I-Car Australia and Car-O-Liner Academy, the Level two course was primarily focused on BMW’s bonding and riveting procedures, diving deep into the properties of steel and the different components used by the German brand.

BMW Group Australia general manager of aftersales Stephan Rausch said the training was crucial to maintaining the high quality and value of the vehicles from the brand.

“Our vehicles are fitted with class-leading technology, and without the correct training platform or providing the knowledge to repair these vehicles back to factory standard, it can have a direct effect to the brand’s integrity,” he said.

“It can also directly impact the value of a customer’s investment in our product.

“We will continue to provide world-class training to our technicians, including professional development for bodyshop managers and estimators, and to embrace potential future leaders that are looking to progress through the ranks of the bodyshop industry.”

BMW Group Australia insurance manager John Braden added the course would better equip BMW’s workforce now and into the future.

“BMW Insurance is firmly committed to ensuring the accredited BMW Bodyshop network has our full support,” he said.

“This includes the delivery of comprehensive and on-going training programmes that are designed to keep the technicians up-to-date with the latest BMW processes.

“This programme combines BMW Group Australia’s continued promise to upskill its workforce today, while future-proofing the skill set of its technicians.”
