BYD Australia and New Zealand has appointed Sajid Hasan as senior product planning manager.
He was previously with Toyota Motor Corporation Australia for 16 years, joining as product planning manager in commercial vehicles and four years later was promoted to product planning manager for Toyota passenger cars and Lexus vehicles.
Mr Hasan’s most recent job was pricing manager for Toyota.
He said he had 16 years “of learning, development, challenges, major successes and life-changing experiences” at Toyota.
“Hand on heart, I can say I would not be the person I am today without the time at Toyota and the incredible mentors that supported me,” he said in a LinkedIn post announcing his move to BYD.
“I’m immensely proud of what we achieved over the past decade to bring amazing cars to the Australian market and it was an added bonus to make life-long friendships in both Australia and Japan along the way.
“I’ll forever cherish the qualities Toyota and Lexus instilled in me. Toyota’s rigorous attention to detail and standardisation for built-in quality and efficiency. Lexus’ pursuit for perfecting the art of delivering amazing experiences for its customers.”
He said he now returns to “my heart’s home of product planning” with his appointment at BYD.
“Bringing my past learnings and a rejuvenated spirit, I am hungry to make positive impactful change on the Australian market with the great team there,” he said.
“I took delivery of my own BYD Seal eight months ago and love getting behind the wheel every single time. Now I am blessed with the great privilege to get behind the wheel of the entire line-up’s future strategy.”
