BYD has become a major partner with the Sydney Roosters after signing a five-year sponsorship agreement.
Under the ‘A New Energy’ logo, the major partnership will feature prominently across the Roosters’ NRL and NRLW teams, with BYD taking top spot on the front of both home and away playing jerseys as well as relevant club apparel.
The sponsorship comes as BYD continues its expansion on the Australian new-car market under the ‘A New Energy’ banner that is designed to reflect BYD’s commitment to a cleaner future and also align with the new era for the Sydney Roosters.Sydney Roosters chairman Nick Politis welcomed the partnership, saying: “We are excited to embark on this journey with BYD as our new major partner. ‘A New Energy’ captures the Roosters’ dynamic spirit and aligns with BYD’s vision for a sustainable future.“This partnership is a testament to our shared commitment to innovation and excellence, and we look forward to building on that together over the next five years.”
BYD Australia and New Zealand general manager Wing You said: “Both BYD and the Sydney Roosters are iconic brands in their respective fields — one representing the forefront of sustainable mobility and the other a proud symbol of excellence in Australian rugby league.”
“This sponsorship is more than just a logo on a jersey; it’s a true alignment of shared values, vision, and a commitment to creating a better future.”
BYD is sold through a national network of dealerships owned by Eagers Automotive Ltd in which Mr Politis is the major shareholder.
BYD has recently expanded its range to include a ute, the plug-in hybrid Shark 6, regarded as an innovative addition to the Australian automotive landscape.
The partnership statement said that throughout the sponsorship, Sydney Roosters members and fans will have the chance to engage with BYD’s cutting-edge electric vehicles, including exclusive offers tailored for club members.
“This historic partnership unites the Roosters’ rich legacy with BYD’s vision for a sustainable future, representing a shared commitment to excellence, progress, and creating positive change,” the statement said.
