LEXUS has regained top spot in manufacturer satisfaction in an index just published by Roy Morgan Research that covers 50,000 Australian householder interviews over a 12-month period and 40,000 car drivers.

The survey also confirms once again that the car industry has the highest rate of satisfaction among Australian householders of any industry surveyed by Roy Morgan.

According to the 2019 Roy Morgan Car Manufacturer Satisfaction Award, Lexus jumped four percentage points to 98 per cent.

Volvo jumped five percentage points to 95 per cent (second place).

Achieving second place in satisfaction in a western car market must come as good news for Volvo’s Chinese masters at Geely as they pursue their plans for increased acceptance in the established car markets.

Volvo experienced the biggest year-on-year jump in the entire survey.

Last year’s winner, Isuzu Ute, was third after slipping one percentage point to 95 per cent.

Also in equal third position were Subaru, Mazda and Hyundai, all with a customer satisfaction of 94 per cent.

Rounding out the top 12 performers were Audi, Toyota, Kia, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai, all on 93 per cent. Mercedes-Benz was at 95 per cent in the previous survey.

Overall, car manufacturer satisfaction eased slightly to 92 per cent from 93 per cent in 2018.

However, despite the slight dip, customer satisfaction for car manufacturers remains among the highest of any of the 32 industries that Roy Morgan measures and reports on every month.

Lexus has had a very successful few years in the category, winning the annual award for four consecutive years from 2014-17. Isuzu Ute won its first Roy Morgan Car Manufacturer Satisfaction Award in 2018.
