ADTORQUE Edge has further expanded its advisory services division with the addition of experienced automotive professional David Brown.

Mr Brown joins the company following two years at KPMG as an associate director in the Motor Industry Services team.

Mr Brown has been in the motor industry for more than 20 years starting in dealerships in his then-home town of Toowoomba in Queensland’s Darling Downs.

He has operated in a wide variety of roles across retail, wholesale and professional services in Australia and the UK including at Jaguar Land Rover Australia and Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) as well as at Nissan Motor Great Britain and Hyundai Motor UK.

His first job in the car industry was in parts traineeship with Westco truck sales in Toowoomba which had a big stable of truck brands including Mercedes-Benz, Mack, Freightliner and Volvo.

He moved to Mark Crampton’s West-Star Motors business in Toowoomba as parts manager followed by Austral Motors in Brisbane. He was with Austral for 18 months before being recruited by Volkswagen Group Australia in Sydney where he spent three years.

He left to travel to the UK where he was seeking wider experience in the motor industry. Over three years Mr Brown found work with Nissan and Hyundai, including experience in a dealership, before returning to VGA in 2009.

Over seven years with VGA he had roles including area manager, dealer development manager and aftersales operations manager. In 2016 he joined Jaguar Land Rover Australia as national after sales manager.

He was with the KPMG Motor Industry Services team for two years.

Mr Brown said that the setting up of an advisory services division at AdTorque Edge was very timely in terms of the rapid changes within the Australian motor retail industry and the advisory activity at AdTorque Edge would complement the company’s existing marketing and advertising services.

“With the industry going through significant change, the technology and digital focus of AdTorque Edge is exactly what is needed to assist dealers and OEMs alike as they transition to new ways of operating,” he said.

AdTorque Edge executive chairman John O’Neill said the addition of Mr Brown to the advisory team will further strengthen the group’s capability and enable it to broaden its services to the industry.

The AdTorque Edge Advisory division is working with dealerships, dealer groups and OEMs, reviewing and assessing business performance and developing strategies and training plans aimed at optimising operational efficiencies and achieving desired financial results.

“We are already working with over 800 dealerships as a trusted advisor and provider of technology services including digital advertising and strategic marketing,” Mr O’Neill said.

“Since launching our advisory offering last year, we have been excited by the response from the market. The addition of David will enable us to expand this area and assist more clients,” he said.
