SPORTS star Dylan Alcott AO is centre court at Drive TV’s latest program on his life and his work to help young athletes through his foundation.
This special program focuses on Alcott’s journey embracing his newfound passions following his retirement from tennis, including his burgeoning love for golf and his continued work at the Dylan Alcott Foundation.
The program is a follow-up to last year’s Australian Open production ‘Chasing Champions’ with Dylan Alcott.
This year it follows the Australian Open and features Kia’s electric cars, the EV5 and EV9, which won Drive Car of the Year in 2024 and featured in action on Drive TV’s circumnavigation of Australia, ‘The Lap’. The latest program, ‘The Road to the Open: A New Chapter’ is hosted by Drive TV’s Emma Notarfrancesco. She is joined with Dylan at the picturesque Ivanhoe Public Golf Course in Victoria.
Over a competitive round of 18 holes, Emma and Dylan talk about his unique experience in commentating at the 2024 Paris Olympics and his acting career across film and television.
It exposes Alcott’s lifelong dedication to championing disability inclusion through the impactful work of the Dylan Alcott Foundation, including Ability Fest, Australia’s first inclusive and accessible music festival, bringing together thousands of Australians to support people with disabilities.
It also shares a nod to Kia Australia’s 23-year partnership with the Australian Open and its unwavering support of players.
This year the partnership uses a Kia fleet of 130 electrified vehicles, marking the first time the event’s transportation has been fully electric or hybrid. Kia generously gifted a car to a young Australian in need of full-time care at AbilityFest.
Alcott said: “Kia’s been such a big supporter, not just for me personally but for the organisation. I feel pretty lucky to have given away the car, to be honest.”
Drive TV executive producer Terry King said about the special: “Dylan’s story continues to inspire and surprise audiences worldwide.”
“From his new passion for golf to his reflection on longtime friend and fellow Kia ambassador Rafael Nadal’s retirement, this episode truly celebrates Dylan’s evolving journey — and highlights how both continue to champion the next generation of athletes on and off the courts.”
