BUICK and GMC marketing vice president and former Holden director of sales and marketing, Phil Brook, has retired from his position in Detroit and returned to Australia.

Mr Brook clarified that although he has retired from his role at GM, he is looking at business opportunities in Australia.

He has held a breadth of sales and marketing positions during his career. He joined General Motors Holden in 2004, following a sales and marketing career with Nissan and Honda.

In 2007, he was appointed as Holden’s director of marketing, where he oversaw the brand’s advertising, marketing, and customer retention strategies.

Mr Brook was appointed director of sales in 2011 and one year later moved into the position of sales and marketing director where he led the national dealer network and successfully launched the largest product portfolio refresh in Holden’s history.

The following year, Mr Brook’s role expanded to executive director of sales, service and marketing and he joined the board of directors at GM Holden.

Mr Brook relocated to the US in 2014 as South-Central regional director of Buick and GMC. In this role he grew volume and market share by empowering his team, developing a close working relationship with the network and driving dealer digital excellence, a program that was expanded nationally.

Since 2017, he has been the vice president of Buick and GMC marketing where he has provided the senior leadership and strategic direction for Buick and GMC marketing and advertising.

GM said Mr Brook had transformed the way that Buick and GMC target customers and buy media.

Mr Brook led the transition of Buick to a premium SUV brand, drove record brand health at GMC and launched the highly successful Sierra multi-pro tailgate marketing campaign.

In 2020, he was responsible for the world’s most-watched auto reveal with the introduction of the world’s first all-electric Supertruck, the GMC Hummer EV.

Buick and GMC will announce Phil Brook’s successor at a later date.
