Mr MacPhee comes to this new role following a successful stint as director of Chevrolet sales operations.

GM says he has a proven track record of driving innovation and performance in sales, having been instrumental in Chevrolet moving from ninth to second in US electric vehicle sales, as well as Chevrolet achieving annual market share growth for the past three years consecutively.

In a prior role as marketing director of Chevrolet Trucks, he led teams that drove Chevrolet trucks to beat Ford’s F-Series in overall retail truck sales in 2022.

Starting his GM career in Canada in 2007, Mr MacPhee held a number of field marketing and sales roles, before leading sales and marketing first for Buick-GMC and then for Chevrolet in the market.

Brad Franz, currently Global Cadillac marketing director, will replace Mr MacPhee as director of Chevrolet sales operations, reporting to global Chevrolet vice president, Scott Bell.

Rich Latek, currently Buick and GMC marketing director, will move to the role of global Cadillac marketing director.

Mr MacPhee said: “We have an incredible opportunity to get more and more people behind the wheel of a GM vehicle and to earn their trust for life.

“I’m looking forward to working with our great teams and partners around the world to bring our world-class vehicles and technologies to market.”

Mr Harvey said: “Across our brands, we have our best-ever vehicle portfolio, and we are rolling out new connectivity, autonomous and software technology around the world.

“This is a critical moment for our business to ensure we are fully leveraging this opportunity to win more customers, delight them with our driving and ownership experiences and earn their loyalty for the long term.”
