THE Sytner Group, wholly owned by the US Penske Automotive Group, has opened the UK’s largest BMW and Mini dealership in Sheffield that holds 350 cars and features five acres or 18,500 square metres of indoor space.

The combined BMW and Mini facility is built close to a major shopping centre (Meadowhall) and is a short distance from the M1, Britain’s transport backbone.

Built over three-storeys, the showroom can hold more than 140 new and used BMWs and 110 new and used Minis as well as four special bays for customer handover.

The workshop has 42-bays and three MOT (roadworthy) bays as well as a 1400 square metre body repair area with three paint ovens.

A key factor in the design was an imperative to attract and retain the best staff. Aside from the extraordinarily luxurious customer facilities, there is a staff lounge with changing and showering facilities including fully-fitted ‘Health-Club’ quality lockers.

The new dealership replaces a BMW facility in the city centre with limited traffic access and a Mini dealership a couple of kilometres from the new site.

The Sytner Group, which has 17 BMW and 16 Mini dealerships in the UK, has annual turnover of $A8.25 billion.
