AUSTRALIAN vehicle data and mobility insights company Intelematics has appointed Robert Finney as its new chief product officer.

He joins the RACV-owned firm from Mondo Energy, where he held the role of energy services product manager.

The appointment has been made as Intelematics focuses on supporting the next generation of connected and electrified vehicles, which will be adopted by governments, enterprises, and private motorists over the next decade in Australia.

In his new role, Mr Finney will lead the Intelematics product team, including responsibility for the strategic development of connected vehicles solutions for the Australian market.

At Mondo, he was responsible for the development of renewable and battery storage solutions, as well as customer acquisitions for new energy marketplace proofs of concept.

Mr Finney has previously held head of product roles at Australia Post. During his tenure at Sensis he was responsible for commercial management of major customers such as Garmin.

He also had responsibility for product management in areas including portable and mobile navigation and digital mapping.

Mr Finney, who holds an MBA from the University of NSW, will lead an experienced team of product managers. His first priority will include overseeing the launch of Intelematics’ new mobility-as-a-service platform, Omniway.

Mr Finney said: “Australia is on the cusp of an electrified vehicle evolution and I am looking forward to helping Intelematics play an integral role in paving the way for smarter, more connected, forms of travel and transport.

“Over time, connected vehicle technology will help to reduce emissions and make our roads safer. I am excited to be part of a team helping to develop the next wave of products which will have a positive impact on both our roads and lives.”

Mr Finney is the second senior appointment made by Intelematics this year.

In February, Anthony Symons was appointed head of technology and data. Mr Symons joined from Optus where he was responsible for leading the development of digital platforms for Optus Enterprise.
