ISUZU Australia Limited has opened its parts distribution centre in Brisbane to service the Oceania region.

The hub will shorten delivery times and reduce freight costs for parts to the South Pacific and northern Australia.

Parts were previously sent from Brisbane and from Isuzu manufacturing plants in Japan and Thailand. Isuzu said previously it could take 33 days to transport Isuzu parts from Yokohama to Auckland but now it only takes a single day by night-freighter from Brisbane.

The change at the 15,000 square metre Brisbane warehouse has coincided with a new air freight service from Isuzu called the SVIP Program. If an order is placed before 9.30am AEST, Isuzu in Japan will process and dispatch the part in the same day.

That would reduce the part’s arrival at the Isuzu Brisbane or Melbourne warehouses to within five days.

Isuzu Australia Ltd national parts manager, John Plunkett, said Brisbane Isuzu Parts and the SVIP program were allowing the company to meet the growing demand for Isuzu parts across the South Pacific.

“Brisbane is ideally situated to service locations in the region,” he said.

“With a program like SVIP, Australia’s distance from Japan is no longer an obstacle or an inconvenience.”
