ELECTRIC vehicle owners in Sydney using the Chargefox app can now recharge at selected AGL kerbside charge stations giving a convenient option to available alternatives.
AGL’s pole-mounted kerbside chargers are ideal for EV owners without home charging or those visiting the area for shopping, entertainment, or running errands.
Chargefox said it was excited to welcome another charging network.
“Kerbside charging is a critical part of our mission to provide convenient charging to EV drivers right across Australia, with a secure and convenient experience,” said Chargefox executive general manager Ed Asuncion.
It means AGL’s kerbside charging sites, which come in two charging speeds (up to 7kW and up to 22kW), are now accessible through the Chargefox app and Chargefox RFID cards.
Chargefox users will be able to locate, charge and pay for charging sessions at these locations, integrating AGL’s kerbside infrastructure with the Chargefox charging platform.
AGL head of e-mobility Mabelle Reyes said: “At AGL, we’re really focussed on making it easier for Australians to adopt electric vehicles but recognise that not everyone will have the ability or ease of access to have at home chargers.
“By providing over 150 public chargers around Sydney our central aim was to improve this access to reliable charging.
“Partnering with Chargefox now extends the reach of these kerbside chargers, giving more EV drivers the confidence that they can conveniently charge in more locations without reliance on off-street parking.”
Chargefox said that the increasing number of chargers available on Chargefox opens up an audience of more than 300,000 EV drivers.
“More exposure means more people using chargers, which means more revenue for charger owners, who will ultimately invest in more chargers,” the company said.
“This is a win-win for drivers and charger owners alike.”
The CEO of Chargefox’s operator Australian Motoring Services (AMS), Rebecca Stenhouse, said: “We’re building a future where all public EV chargers are available to all EV drivers on one simple platform, so users can easily and securely see, navigate to, and use thousands of chargers without having to use multiple apps.”
The newly integrated AGL sites are now available on the Chargefox app.
