HOMELESS and less fortunate members of Sydney’s community now have double the health care provided by mobile medical service Street Side Medics after the nation’s biggest Mercedes-Benz retailer, LSH Auto Australia, recently handed over a second mobile clinic to doctors.

LSH, which donated its second van this week, has indicated it would continue the association with the free medical organisation with a third van.

Street Side Medics was founded in 2020 by Sydney doctor – and more recently 2022 Young Australian of the Year recipient – Dr Daniel Nour.

As reported previously by GoAutoNews Premium, the organisation has been delivering medical care to NSW’s homeless communities from a specially fitted out Mercedes-Benz van.

The second van was donated by LSH at the inaugural Street Side Medics Gala, held recently at Crown Barangaroo, Sydney.

The event was attended by LSH Auto Australia managing director John Good, Dr Nour, NSW governor Margaret Beazley AO and NSW premier Dominic Perrottet.

Mr Good said: “Once we saw what Daniel and Street Side Medics were achieving, the initial decision to support them by providing the second van was easy.

“Providing the third van will allow them to further expand their medical services for the homeless and dispossessed.

“The way we look after our less fortunate is a true test of the compassion of a society and that’s why we are proud to be helping the work of Street Side Medics. It’s also central to our aim of being a valuable member of each community in which we operate.”

Dr Nour said: “From small beginnings the growth of Street Side Medics is largely due to the support, participation and partnership of so many individuals and companies, for which we are eternally grateful.

“LSH Auto Australia has been a central part of that journey of growth. The contribution of two of our three vans has allowed us to care for those in need in more locations around Sydney and, hopefully, soon in other Australian cities.”

Street Side Medics’ care covers examinations and investigation including specialty imaging and pathology, the treatment and management of medical conditions, immunisations and even minor surgical procedures. A key focus is to identify and treat often long-term health issues.

The inaugural Street Side Medics Gala was attended by over 300 invited guests, partners and contributors and raised significant funds in support of the ongoing provision and expansion of medical care for those suffering from homelessness and entrenched disadvantage.
