MERCEDES-BENZ is adding another dealership to its national network with a showroom underway in Melbourne’s Mulgrave, to be known as Mercedes-Benz Waverley, close to the brand’s head office and within a stone’s throw of BMW Australia’s corporate headquarters.

While the dealership is located in the eastern suburb of Mulgrave, Mercedes-Benz has chosen to call it Mercedes-Benz Waverley.

Mercedes-Benz Australia Pacific spokesman Jerry Stamoulis said the new addition, which brings the Victorian passenger-car outlets to 19, is expected to be completed in June.

It will be operated by Patterson Cheney which also runs Mercedes-Benz Berwick. Staff requirements have been recently advertised and indicate about 25 personnel in management, sales and aftersales are required for the business from the opening date.

GoAutoNews Premium understands the building, under construction by Long Contracting, is costing about $15 million.

Located on Springvale Road on a 16,000 square metre site, it has a 1900 square metre display area in the front showroom, a separate section for pre-owned vehicles, has office space for 60 people and customer areas including a lounge and cafe.

The showroom has a substantial workshop with 19 service bays, an automatic car wash and detailing bays, a large storage area for new vehicles, and an undercover area for pre-delivery.
