FLEDGLING auto company MG Motor Australia has partnered with Macquarie Leasing to launch its branded MG Finance Australia as a funding option for customers.

The finance will be available through MG Motor’s national network of 32 dealerships from this month.

MG Motor Australia sales and network director Scott McIntyre said the move gives customers easier access to the MG brand.

“It reinforces our commitment to this market and our dealer partners by providing a truly compelling finance offer across our growing range,” he said.

“We look forward to ensuring more Australian car buyers can embrace MG’s ethos of fun motoring for life.”

Specialist vehicle finance provider Macquarie Leasing is one of Australia’s leading providers of novated lease agreements and loans for vehicles and other plant and equipment.

The finance offer comes as MG Motor passed the calendar year’s halfway mark with sales of 3718 units – a 283 per cent sales growth off a low base from the corresponding period in 2018.

The sales were led by the MG ZS small SUV with 1752 units – marking a 191 per cent increase for the year to date – and the MG’s light city car, the MG3, with 1651 sales. Its GS mid-size SUV is also up 55.3 per cent this year with 205 sales.

The finance is offered on all MG product. The brand has dropped its MG6 small-medium passenger car, leaving the market with the MG3, GS and ZS.

MG is part of SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, the largest vehicle company on China’s A- share market with a total equity of 11 billion shares. Its major western car-maker partners are Volkswagen and General Motors.

SAIC Motor’s business covers the research, production and vehicle sales of both passenger cars and commercial vehicles. In calendar 2018 it sold 7.05 million vehicles worldwide.

It makes components including engines, gearboxes, powertrains, chassis, interior and exterior and miscellaneous electronic components and operates logistics services, vehicle telematics, second-hand vehicle transactions and auto finance services.

SAIC’s affiliated vehicle companies include Morris Garages (MG), SAIC MAXUS (LDV in Australia and New Zealand), and domestic vehicles made by SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC-GM, Shanghai General Motors Wuling (SGMW), NAVECO, SAIC-IVECO Hongyan and Shanghai Sunwin Bus Corp (SUNWIN).
